Privacy Policy

Last updated 21 July 2026 · Questions? hi@snark.video

This Privacy Policy explains how snark.video ("Snark", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects personal information when you use our websites and services. It is written to meet the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA (CCPA/CPRA), and the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

1. Information we collect

2. How we use it & our legal bases (GDPR Art. 6)

3. AI processing

To create reels, submitted text may be sent to ElevenLabs to generate an AI voice-over, and background music is AI-generated. We do not use your content to train third-party foundation models beyond generating your reel.

4. Sharing & sub-processors

We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use vetted service providers who process data only on our instructions: Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), ElevenLabs (AI voice/music), Cloudflare (hosting, DNS, security), and Pexels (stock footage; no personal data shared). We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

5. International transfers

We are based in the United States and our providers may process data in the U.S. and elsewhere. Where personal data is transferred out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum) or an equivalent mechanism.

6. Data retention

7. Public content

Anything submitted appears on that event's wall and reel, which are viewable by anyone with the link (and, if a host opts a non-kids event into the public Gallery, by the public). Please don't submit anything you wouldn't want shared.

8. Your rights (EU/UK — GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the UK, the ICO; in the EU, your national Data Protection Authority).

9. Your rights (California — CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know, access, correct, and delete personal information, to opt out of sale/sharing (note: we do not sell or share), and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To exercise any right, email hi@snark.video — we will verify and respond within the timeframes required by law.

10. Children's privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)

The Snark Kids experience is designed to be set up and supervised by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult, who controls the private link and is the account holder. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 (U.S.) or under the applicable age of digital consent (13–16 in the EU/UK) without that adult's involvement. Kids' videos are encrypted, hidden from our staff, and auto-deleted after 30 days. A parent/guardian may review or request deletion of a child's content at any time by emailing hi@snark.video.

11. Security

We use HTTPS in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest for kids media (keyed so operators cannot view it without the family's link), and access controls. No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and regulators of a breach where required by law.

12. Cookies

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Strictly necessary storage may be used to run features (e.g., remembering your host code on your device). Our analytics are first-party and do not set identifying cookies.

13. Contact & changes

Data controller contact / privacy requests: hi@snark.video. EEA/UK users may ask us about our representative. We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here with a new date above.
